Hello :)

I'm running a linguistic multisite install, with a main site in http://www.domain.com and 10 translated sites in fr.domain.com, de.domain.com etc. I have around 300 pages.

WP Super Cache is network activated in Mod_rewrite mode with all the recommanded settings, on an Apache server.

I'm hosted at a friend who runs a small hosting company - I mean, some personalization is possible to some extent if needed.

WP Super Cache was working fine until I had to
1/ shift to multisite w/ subdomains and
2/ deactivate the launch of Cron.php by Wordpress, to have it launched every 5 minutes by the server. My friend says it is more efficient and safer this way.

Now, the caching itself is working fine, but not the preload, which starts but does not load a single page.

So my main question is :

- What are the right settings in my situation ? Are there even right settings ?

And sub questions are :

1- Should I rather have WP Super Cache installed on a per blog basis, and set up a Cron task for each subdomain ?

2- What would be the ideal setting for the preload, in terms of time / rhythm ?

3- This time setting should be linked to my .htaccess rules about the expiration of headers of html, shouldn't it ? I imagine the perfect setting makes the Preload come BEFORE the expiration of html files, right ? So that preloaded files will not expire and not get cached again before Cron runs again. Is that correct?

4- In unsuccessful tries, tweaking Cron and the wp-config line about define('DISABLE_WP_CRON', true); and the activation of WPSC on the network or per blog, we succeeded crashing the server 2 times :) Ok, that's not a question, just some fun.

5- Btw I'm also using WP Touch and getting low scores on Google's pagespeed on mobile, perhaps because WP Super Cache is not caching the mobile pages? I don't know how to check. I can give you some logs or debug files if needed, but I can't properly read and understand them.

Of course I've read everything I could about those topics, and I'm still Super Ignorant.
Dear Super Experts of Caching, could you please help me ? :)

Cheers,
Ludovic
